Dean Foods, the country’s largest processor and distributor of milk and other dairy products, has more than 90 processing facilities across the U.S., including Louis Trauth Dairy in TQL’s backyard, right across the Ohio River in Newport, Kentucky.
Approximately 5 months ago, Louis Trauth Dairy approached TQL for help in arranging the outbound truckload shipments from its Newport facility. The plant had recently won a contract to be the co-packer for a large, well-known yogurt brand and, with no full-time transportation personnel on staff, knew it could benefit from TQL’s experience and support.
TQL suggested that Louis Trauth Dairy utilize its Client Load Management System (CLMS), a web-based application that allows a client to tightly integrate its order entry system with TQL’s load management system. As a result, the client and TQL are able to work together more efficiently, easily managing orders, consolidating loads, streamlining communications and tracking shipments – all through TQL’s secure CLMS web site.
To date, TQL has successfully delivered all of Louis Trauth Dairy’s yogurt shipments out of its Newport facility. The implementation of CLMS has saved Steve Starke, the facility’s Production Supervisor, a great deal of time and money.
CLMS has decreased Starke’s workload by almost two thirds, reducing the time it took to manually build a load from 20-25 minutes to 2-3 minutes each.
This time is now re-focused on Starke’s number one responsibility: managing the production line to ensure the yogurt product meets both the brand’s and FDA’s quality standards.
Additionally, CLMS has prevented Louis Trauth Dairy from having to purchase off-the-shelf TMS software or hire additional personnel to handle the tasks of organizing and managing the facility’s transportation.
